Introducing the Cabo Hoodie

I posted about this on the One Planet Yarn and Fiber blog, but I felt I had to do it here too, but I am adding MORE PHOTOS HERE!!

Check out the One Planet Blog for all the details about the yarn offers for this pattern and a few other things. There is a special offer if you buy the pattern and the yarn using the discount code CABO and it includes other weights of Lanas Puras Melosa as well... I got some pretty new colors. !!!

But look how cute these photos are. This is the Lanas Puras Melosa worsted weight yarn in Hibiscus (for the girls) and Mountain Sky (for the boys). Thank you to my friends for letting me use their gorgeous kids as models. I think these kids did a great job!! Let them know you think they did a great job if you read this post!! Leave them a note here! Thank you!

A quick post

I thought I would make a quick post while I could. I am so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open. Just not getting much sleep these days!! There is just a lot going on in my personal life and I am having trouble keeping up with all that I have to do. Plus I am not literally NOT sleeping. It is a nightmare.. It is really getting to me. One or two nights ok but when it is several in a row, ouch....

I did finish something!! This is my sister wearing the Garnstudio sweater that I knit. It took a long time. The yarn is really wonderful I have to say. It is the Knitpicks Alpaca and Silk yarn and it is very soft. It is a really warm sweater though too. It doesn't quite fit me right, in that it is a bit short. I am kind of longer on the top then on the bottom. Still I am very proud of it!

Garnstudio does have the nicest patterns and now they are all free on the their website. The only thing is the ones on the website are not written as clearly as the hardcopy ones so I hope they keep selling their books.

My goal now is to finish the Ruby sweater I am working on. Then finish the baby blanket and the Noni bag and then finally I can start something new. It has been really super hard holding myself back from starting something new!!

My next project will probably be something lace I think. A shawl. I am looking forward to the new Lace Style book which is releasing soon from Interweave press.

I have one more photo. Nicole sent me a photo of a pair of socks she made in merino and tencel in the rum raisin colorway.

I think they turned out really pretty. Thanks Nicole for sending me this. Anyone who sends in a photo with something they have made from our yarn, will receive a special coupon in their email for One Planet. So if you have photos, send them to info@oneplanetyarnandfiber.com. The other thing you can do to get a coupon is to write a product review on the site. Just send an email letting us know you have done so.

Well, got to go. We have a ton going on this week at One Planet. A pattern release of a sweater designed by Knit and Tonic Wendy is the biggest thing.... Check out the blog for all the details.....

Happy Monday.

Call for Submissions

From Melissa, Creative Director of One Planet Yarn and Fiber

Hello All!

One Planet Yarn and Fiber is looking for submissions to compliment our exclusive yarn lines. We are looking for all types of projects, focusing mainly on: smaller projects, shawls, bags, socks, household items, and sweaters. Please note we are also looking for crochet and felted designs in those categories along with knitted items.

We are focusing on developing patterns for our Lanas Puras line of yarns, which come in worsted, fingering, and lace weights. However, we have some new things coming soon that will also need pattern support.

We will supply yarn for all projects and designers will have 45 days from yarn receipt to complete the project. Photography, tech editing and all graphic work (schematics and graphs) will be provided.

In addition to any design ideas you may send, we would love to see some of your past work to get an idea of your design style and experience. Don't have prior experience? Don't fret! We are always looking for fresh talent also.

Please send all sketches and swatches to Melissa by Jan 29th: melissa@oneplanetyarnandfiber.com

If you have any questions or would like more details, please feel free to email me!

Thanks!

No time for blogging

I feel as if I haven't had much time for blogging or much to say. I did just put a long post on the One Planet blog about all of the new items if you want to take a look.

I am still knitting the same Log Cabin baby blanket which is going to be much bigger than a standard baby blanket! I think I am going to have to crochet this baby a real baby blanket and this will be more his "big boy" blanket!! That is ok, it is turning out gorgeous. I am bummed out that I made a big mistake on my Ruby sweater!! LAZY LAZY LAZY I kept knitting the back and didn't even stop to count stiches every so often! By the time I got to above the arm holes, I am missing 11 stitches somewhere! So I have to rip it out to at least below the armholes. This is not easy on these tiny needles but I am determined to finish this!!!

We have been spending loads of time trying to figure out other yarns we are going to add to the shop. It is incredible, I mean incredible how many yarn companies there are out there!!

The best news of all though is that within a few weeks, we are going to have a completely revamped line of Yarn Botanika yarns. There are going to be yarns of pretty much every knitting weight in several fibers. This is pretty exciting and I can't wait to reveal it to everyone!! All the yarn is being exclusive spun for us and hand dyed for us in England and Wales!

No knitting photos today but I will show you a cool photo I took in Sedona. This is of a huge glass "plant" believe it or not outside a glass studio. Kind of interesting!

One Planet Sale, knitting, etc....

I can't believe I forgot to post on here about the one week only sale at One Planet Yarn and Fiber. It started last Monday and I have been so busy I hardly know what day it is. Anyhow, there are only two days left, so please check out the One Planet Blog for all the details. Several of the colorways have completely sold out in Black Pearl Yarns cashmere, Lanas Puras and Yarn Botanika yarns. Also we have all of the Indie company yarns on sale which is unusual and won't happen often. Handpainted yarns from Yarn Pirate, Sunshine Yarns, Felt Studio UK, A Piece of Vermont, Serenknity, and RMD Designs. I hope I didn't forget anyone...... Just please go read the blog!! LOL And if you have wanted to try one of these yarns, now is the time! Plus we have a lot of great new patterns. All of the patterns from Bees Knees Knits, which I have not posted yet, the Zephyr gal patterns which I love, Heartstrings sock and shawl patterns and soon Chic Knits patterns and more. I am not posting all the links sorry!! Just look at our site or google.com the names! I know! I am lazy!! Sorry!

I just found out that I mixed up two people's orders. I did this one time before and I can't believe I did it again! I am so embarrassed. Do I need a better system? How does Sunshine yarns do it correctly? I have seen photos on her blog of millions of packages!!

I hope everyone had a great New Year and Christmas. I am kind of glad the holidays are over. Am I a bad scrooge!! The commercialism just really gets to me and it seems like it gets worse every single year. UGH and the crowds everywhere!!

I went up to Sedona and Jerome Arizona last weekend, two of my favorite cities. Jerome has a GREAT yarn store!! I love it there. I bought two skeins of Manos and some Lana Grossa sock yarn to try out.... uh uh in my spare time!! Here is one photo of the red rocks of Sedona. Every time I go up there, I want to move there. I look at a few houses even. Why don't I just do it? It is a bit expensive, but I could do it... my other choice is Boulder, Co. Lots of thinking and I probably won't go anywhere. This is not the best photo, but......

I have more of the Modern baby blanket done. Here is a peek. No it is not traditional baby colors but it is going to be gorgeous I think!

Happy New Year!!
